Chappapeela Sports Park Playground Additions and Renovations
Project Narrative
We were part of the original design team for Chappapeela Sports Park and were later retained by the Owner to lead the renovation and upgrade of the park’s existing playgrounds.
The project scope included the complete replacement of all play equipment at Trailhead Playground A and a partial replacement of equipment at Playground B. We prepared full design and construction documents for the demolition and redesign of both playgrounds, incorporating updated, modern play structures.
Collaborating closely with the Owner, we presented multiple equipment options, pricing, and color selections.
The final designs included:
- New modern play equipment combined with the refurbishment of select existing pieces
- Enlargement of both playground areas to properly accommodate the new equipment
- Installation of poured-in-place rubberized safety surfacing throughout
- New seating areas featuring seat walls constructed with materials matching the adjacent buildings for design continuity and visual harmony
- Strategic planting of shade trees to provide future shade for the seating and play areas
This renovation significantly enhanced safety, functionality, and aesthetics while maintaining consistency with the overall character of the sports park.
