Project Narrative

We were retained by the owners to design the renovation of their backyard while their residence was undergoing a major architectural renovation. The goal was to create a cohesive, contemporary outdoor living space that complemented the updated home.

The existing backyard contained an outdated pool that needed to be removed. The new program included a new pool, spa, outdoor kitchen, fencing, landscaping, irrigation, and lighting.

We developed a comprehensive rear yard master plan featuring clean, modern design elements consistent with the contemporary style of the renovated residence.

Key features of the plan included:

  • A multi-level pool deck and a new pool with a sleek cascading waterfall edge
  • A large open-air addition to the residence that incorporated the outdoor kitchen and a spacious gathering area
  • A spa positioned beneath the open-air structure, connected to the main pool by a series of stepping stones with water-filled troughs
  • A contemporary tiled feature wall and fire pit anchoring the east end of the pool

Although the west side of the yard was originally planned as lawn, the owners later decided to install a large putting green in this area.

We also provided complete construction documents for all aspects of the construction including comprehensive landscaping, irrigation systems (covering both front and rear yards), and detailed site lighting to enhance the overall experience and functionality of the new outdoor living space.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
